Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an appointment?
The best way is to contact us at (972) 398-7891 and make
arrangements with our receptionist.
How soon can I see the doctor?
We are currently enrolling new patients so the waiting time
should be minimal. In most cases, even same day appointments will
be accommodated.
Will my insurance be accepted by your office?
Please click the
insurance plans button to see if your insurance is accepted.
We will see anyone who comes to our office but keep in mind that
your insurance will only cover the cost of a visit if Dr. Nguyen
is assigned as the primary care provider.
How do I assign Dr. Nguyen as my provider?
Before calling for an appointment, please contact your insurer ahead
of time and tell them that you are
assigning Dr. Nguyen as your primary care provider.
What is a co-payment?
This is the charge that your insurer requires you to pay a doctor's
office at the time service is rendered. The amount will vary from
one policy to the next.
What is a deductible?
This is the amount that the patient has to pay before the insurer
will begin benefits. For example, if medical services costs $200 and
the deductible is $150, then the patient pays the first $150 while
the insurer pays the remaining $50. This amount is reset annually.
What do I do if I have an emergency?
If you are truly having a medical emergency, please dial 911 and seek
help immediately. For urgent problems, you may call during normal
office hours and we will schedule you a same day appointment.
What if I have a problem "after hours"?
At our office, you are completely covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
For problems that occur outside of the usual office hours, you may call
our office and we will give you instructions on how to reach the
"on call" physician. Dr. Nguyen participates in a pool of physicians
that consists of only highly trained board certified physicians.
I am looking for a new primary care physician,
where can I find referrences?
Unfortunately, we do not give out the names of other satisfied patients
due to patient/physician confidentiality laws. However, we invite you
to call the hospital in which Dr. Nguyen has priveleges and other doctors
in the Plano area to ask about his abilitiies, qualifications, character,
and so on.
What should I bring with me when I go to the
doctor's office?
Since insurance verification has to occur with each and every office
visit, we ask that you bring proof of identification with a picture ID,
your insurance card, and any medical records from referring doctors or
former primary care physicians (if you are new to the practice). Of
course, you will also be responsible for the co-pays and deductibles.
I recently lost my job but now I need to see
the doctor, what should I do?
Situations will vary, but in general under the Cobra laws, your former
employer should still offer you an extended period of health coverage
even after you leave your job. Of course, this is provided that you
are still paying the premiums. Please check with your insurance
carrier for your specific situation.
I think that I need to see a specialist, do I
need to be referred by Dr. Nguyen?
That will depend on your insurance policy. In general, patients under a
PPO can refer themselves from a list of specialist provided by the
insurer. On the other hand, members of an HMO must be seen by
Dr. Nguyen first and then have the referral made through our office.
I have health insurance coverage, so why
did I get an invoice for a prior office visit?
As stated in our policy sheet, the patient is ultimately responsible for
his/her own medical costs. Sometimes the insurance company makes an
error in billing and will not pay for their beneficiaries so in the end,
our office does not get paid even though services have already been rendered.
